Land Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky / 10yo / 700mL

Tasting Note

Aerstone Land Cask 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a rich, gently smoky Lowland malt built for easy drinking rather than challenge. Ten years of age have given it a smooth, rounded character that suits both newcomers to single malt and drinkers after something undemanding at the end of the day.

The nose leads with warm cereal and dried fruit, backed by a soft wisp of smoke and a sweetness closer to honeycomb than syrup. On the palate there is baked apple, barley sugar and a little toasted grain, with the smoke sitting underneath rather than across the top.

Texture is the strength here: soft, slightly oily and unhurried, with no sharp edges. Warmth builds slowly through the middle and the finish is medium in length, drying gently and leaving a faint earthy smoke and a touch of spice behind.

Pour it neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water to open up the sweeter grain notes. It handles a single large ice cube without falling apart, which makes it a sound choice on a warm evening. Try it alongside smoked almonds, aged cheddar, or a plate of charcuterie. No need to cellar this one — it is bottled ready to drink, and an opened bottle is best enjoyed within a year or so.
