The Donnafugata Anthìlia Sicilia Bianco 2025 is a bright, dry white from Sicily built around the island's Catarratto grape. It is fresh and citrus-driven rather than weighty, the kind of white that works as easily before dinner as with it.
Aromas lean towards lemon zest, green apple and white peach, with a light floral lift and a faint note of crushed herbs that reads as distinctly Mediterranean. There is a subtle saline edge underneath, the sort of thing you find in whites grown within reach of the coast.
The palate is clean and nicely proportioned, with grapefruit and nashi pear carried on a firm line of acidity. Texture is gently rounded through the middle before the finish tightens up and turns dry and mineral, leaving the mouth refreshed rather than coated. Alcohol sits in balance, so the wine stays light on its feet across a long lunch.
Pour it with grilled prawns, salt and pepper squid, a plate of oysters, or simple pasta with olive oil, garlic and parsley. It also handles antipasti well — marinated olives, mozzarella, thin slices of prosciutto — and is a sound match for lighter chicken and vegetable dishes.
Drink the Anthìlia Sicilia Bianco 2025 now and over the next two to three years, served well chilled at around 10 degrees.
