The Home Hill Landslide Pinot Noir 2025 is a cool-climate Tasmanian pinot from the Huon Valley, in the island's far south, where a long ripening season gives fruit that stays bright rather than broad. Expect a medium-bodied red with clear red-fruit definition, fine tannin and the sort of natural acidity that makes the glass keep moving.
Aromatically it leans towards morello cherry and raspberry, with rhubarb, crushed violet and a hint of forest floor sitting underneath. The palate follows the perfume closely: red berries first, then a savoury turn through blood orange and dried thyme, with a faint peppery lift on the mid-palate that is very much a southern Tasmanian signature. Structurally the Landslide Pinot Noir is built on line rather than muscle. Tannins are powdery and close-knit, the acid runs straight through the centre of the wine, and the finish is long and gently savoury, closing on tart cherry skin. There is real translucency here, but plenty of grip to keep it from feeling slight.
Serve at around 16°C in a large bowl, and give it twenty minutes open if you are drinking it young. It suits duck breast, roast quail, mushroom risotto or a piece of ocean trout. Drinking well from now, and it should hold and build savoury complexity through to about 2032.
