Domaine Christian Moreau (Père et Fils)

Petit Chablis / 2025 / 750mL

Tasting Note

The Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Petit Chablis 2025 is a bright, unoaked Chardonnay from Chablis in northern Burgundy, made in a lean and refreshing style. Coming from an exceptionally early 2025 season, with picking in the region beginning in mid to late August ahead of the rain, this is a Petit Chablis with clear fruit and plenty of nerve.

Aromatics lean green and citrusy: lemon zest, green apple skin, a little white flower and that faint struck-flint character Chablis does so well. The palate is light to medium bodied and dry, with grapefruit and under-ripe pear running through the middle, and a saline edge that keeps everything tight rather than fruity.

Acidity is the backbone here, firm and clean, giving the wine a chalky, almost brittle texture through the finish. There is no weight or roundness getting in the way, just a crisp, mineral close that pulls you back for another mouthful.

Serve it properly cold, around 8 to 10 degrees, in a decent-sized white wine glass so the aromatics open up. Oysters are the obvious call, but it works just as well with Sydney rock prawns, whitebait, goat's cheese or a plate of charcuterie before dinner.

Drink the Petit Chablis 2025 from now through to about 2028, while its freshness is at full stretch.
