The Bogle Pinot Noir 2022 is an easy-drinking red from Clarksburg in California's Sacramento River Delta, made by this sustainably farmed, family-run producer in a soft, fruit-forward style rather than the leaner, more savoury Pinot Noirs of cooler coastal regions. It's built for everyday enjoyment, not special occasions.
Red cherry, cranberry and a touch of baking spice come through on the nose, with a soft, juicy palate that stays light on its feet. There's a faint earthiness underneath the fruit that keeps it from feeling one-dimensional, along with a touch of dried herb and a gentle spiced note that lifts the aromatics.
Tannins are gentle and the finish is fresh rather than long, with bright acidity giving it lift and making it a natural candidate for a slight chill in warmer months.
Try it with grilled salmon, roast chicken, a charcuterie board, a simple mushroom pasta, or even a light pizza.
Best enjoyed over the next year or two, chilled slightly, while the fruit is fresh, bright and at its most vivid.
