The Domaine de Viranel Trilogie Rosé 2024 is a dry, pale southern French rosé from the Languedoc-Roussillon, built for drinking cold rather than contemplating. Expect a wine with more savoury grip than the pastel colour suggests.
Aromatically it leans on white peach, pink grapefruit and crushed strawberry, with a dusty garrigue edge — thyme, wild fennel, warm stone — that marks it out as a wine from the French south rather than anywhere cooler.
The palate is dry and taut, with red berry fruit running through the middle and a faint saline note underneath. Texture is light but not thin, the acidity clean and persistent, and the finish closes with a citrus pith bitterness that keeps things refreshing rather than sweet. There is enough structure here to hold up at the table.
Serve it well chilled with grilled prawns, a salade niçoise, chicken skewers off the barbecue, or a plate of charcuterie and olives. It also handles tomato-based dishes and lighter Mediterranean cooking better than most rosés at this weight.
