La Vicomté

Pinot Noir / 2025 / 750mL

Tasting Note

La Vicomté Pinot Noir 2025 is a light to medium-bodied French red made in an easygoing, fruit-forward style. Pinot Noir in this guise is about perfume and drinkability rather than power, and the 2025 delivers exactly that.

Red cherry, raspberry and a little crushed strawberry lead the aromatics, with a faint earthy, leafy edge underneath that keeps it from tasting sweet. There is a hint of baking spice and dried rose petal with air.

The palate is supple and bright, with fine, powdery tannins and enough acidity to keep the fruit lively through the middle. It finishes clean and savoury, with a gentle grip and a lingering sour-cherry tang rather than any heaviness.

Serve it with a light chill, around 14 to 16 degrees, alongside roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom risotto, duck breast or a plate of soft washed-rind cheese. It also handles grilled salmon and teriyaki-glazed pork better than most reds.

Drink from now through to 2029. The 2025 is built for current enjoyment, so there is little to gain from cellaring it beyond that, though a year or two in the rack will soften the edges slightly.
