Somos Garnacha Y Amigos / Chilled Red / 2024 / 750mL

The Somos Garnacha Y Amigos 2024 is a chilled red from South Australia built around garnacha and a handful of companion varieties, made for drinking cold and drinking fast. Bright, juicy and low in tannin, it sits closer to a dark rosé in weight than a conventional red.

Crushed raspberry, red plum skin and a little pomegranate lead the aromatics, with a peppery, almost herbal lift behind the fruit. The palate follows the nose closely — sappy red berries, a twist of orange peel, and a faintly savoury, dried-thyme note that keeps it from tipping into sweetness.

Light-bodied and unforced, the Garnacha Y Amigos carries fine, powdery tannin and a fresh acid line that does most of the structural work. Texture is smooth rather than grippy, and the finish is short, clean and dry, with the red fruit fading into something faintly stony.

Serve it properly cold, around 12–14°C, straight from the fridge on a hot afternoon. It handles charcuterie, grilled lamb skewers, tomato-heavy pasta, jamón, and anything off a summer barbecue where a heavier red would be hard work. This is a wine to enjoy in its youth — drink the 2024 through to 2026 while the fruit is at its most vivid.
