Highly lifted aromas of citrus and white flower are nuanced with secondary characters of wax and flint. The mouthfeel is highly restrained with intense minerality and refreshing acidity gives the wine extreme focus and length.
Intense aromas of citrus pith and ripe white stone fruit are complexed with burnt match and toast. The combination of lees, natural acidity and phenolics create a mouthfeel that is full and creamy yet long and savoury.
Baron Herzog Chardonnay is dark gold in colour and fruity for the nose. It has little maloactic fermentation giving it a tarty taste with a hint of honey.
Chardonnay grapes from Clarksburg have characteristic of apple and pear aroma. This creates an elegant counterpart, full of fresh fruit, including touches of pineapple and guava. The elegant and creamy mouthfeel wraps around the fruit and leads to tones of spice, nutmeg and toasty vanilla.
This Chardonnay is 100% barrel fermented to create a rich wine exhibiting a classic profile of tropical fruit and Bosc pear alongside warm oak aromatics. The luscious palate suggests crème brulée and buttered toast, and finishes with fresh acidity.
Green apple and freshly-sliced pears are present on the nose, the palate is well balanced with a lightly-spiced entry, hints of stem ginger interpolating the malic fruit with a nicely weighted finish.
Pale in colour and fresh on the nose, left bank austerity shines through at first, then the main body of the wine is much fleshier behind. Even with, some heat at the finish, but more spice. Good grip though, this has potential to be a grand vin de garde
